Thorburn Scratch Card Lucky Draw Winner

Employees at Thorburn Northern Region are encouraged to contribute towards positive thinking, positive actions and a positive attitude in relation to their tasks.  The methods of encouragement vary from Positive Thinking posters, cash reward yielding scratch cards, discretionary cash rewards for arrests or preventions and an ultimate reward from a quarterly draw including all scratch card winners.

On 4 November 2013, one such lucky draw took pace and Security Officer Ben Matlokotsi, who is deployed at the Thorburn SASOL site in Rosebank, was the lucky winner.

We would like to reiterate that our personnel are very important to us and one of the end results in the SABS ISO 9002: 2008-approved Thorburn Product Realization process, is employee care. The afore-mentioned reward systems encourage our employees loyalty, portraying higher levels of integrity and generally creating more passion for the tasks at hand. In addition to the ad-hoc rewards, staff are rewarded for presentability and attendance. Long serving employees are rewarded with a R500 long service bonus whilst staff with 5 years’ service are subsidised with a medical aid. Employees in the mining and smelter operations also receive life cover valued at R200 000 (which is paid for by Thorburn), in addition to their Provident Fund cover.
