TIM WALTERS | EXECUTIVE DIRECTOR
Tim is the CFO of our holding company Tsebo Solutions Group, is a member of the Executive Committee, and sits on the Board of Thorburn Security Solutions (Northern and Southern Region). After school Tim joined the Military, where he completed Officer’s Training School. Prior to joining Tsebo in 2002 he held both supply chain and financial leadership positions at SA Breweries and Barloworld Equipment. Tim is highly qualified, having studied at WITS University where he qualified with a B.Comm, a B.Acc and as a C.A. Among his many interests are cycling, shooting, polo, reading, spear fishing, and kite surfing.
CHRIS JARDINE | EXECUTIVE DIRECTOR
Dr Chris Jardine is the Group Executive Director for Operations for the Tsebo Group. He joined Tsebo in 2011 as CEO of Tsebo Catering Solutions, a position he held until assuming his new role in June 2015. Prior to this he was CEO of the J & J Group. Chris has worked in various executive and director roles in the IT, logistics, telecommunications, industrials and financial services
sectors.He has also served on the boards of companies as diverse as MTN, Transnet, Macquarie First South and Union Carriage and Wagons.
FC SMIT| CEO
FC is a well-known name in South African rugby history. He studied at Stellenbosch University and gained provincial colours in rugby, whereafter he went on to make a name for himself in this field. After spending two years in France, FC joined Gray Security Services in 1994 and resigned as a Regional Director in 2000. He enjoys horses, hunting, cooking and is a keen entertainer.
DOLF SCHEEPERS | CHIEF OPERATING OFFICER
Dolf served in the former SADF as a Lt Col and moved to the private sector in 1995. Over the years he developed from pure operational security management to business management in 1999 with the appointment as MD at the former Gray Security Services. In the UK he worked as a Senior Risk Auditor for Securicor and managed various specialist functions from investigations, business intelligence, profiling to quality assurance in his position as Head of Consultancy for Africa. As a business and product development director, he expanded his risk reduction solution design knowledge through research and development linked to experience gained over 10 years in the industry. He joined Thorburn in October 2005 and is in control of the Gauteng, North West, Mpumalanga and Limpopo Provinces, in addition to the Northern Cape. Dolf is renowned in the industry and in the market for his leadership abilities and is highly respected by customers and colleagues alike. He is a family man and in his spare time is an avid bowls player. Dolf is also an author in his own right, having published “Lions Leading Lions“, a book on Leadership, in 2016. At the end of 2017 Dolf was promoted to COO, a new position within the Thorburn group of companies.
PHILLIP CAN SITTERT | FINANCIAL DIRECTOR
Phillip joins Thorburn from the ranks of the Tsebo SOlutions Group, where he was very successful as FM of both ERS/ATS as well as TS Afrika over the last number of years. He is ideally qualified and has the right Tsebo knowledge and experience to continue the good work that he is renowned for, in the ongoing process of more fully integrating Thorburn Security Solutions into Tsebo.
JAN-LOUIS GROBBELAAR | NATIONAL BUSINESS DEVELOPMENT DIRECTOR
Jan-Louis is known to the Thorburn family, having worked within the Thorburn stable for the last 8 years in a number of roles. He has spent more than 20 years in the security industry, during which he acquired significant and varied experience for an array of companies. His roles have spanned the spectrum from engineering and design, all the way through to sales and his most recent role as Managing Director of Thorburn Technical. Jan-Louis is a graduate industrial engineer with an MBA from Henley. He and his wife Adel have two children, and he is a keen cyclist.
REGGIE GRIGGS | MANAGING DIRECTOR (SOUTHERN REGION)
Born in Cape Town, Reggie served in the former SADF as a permanent force officer and moved to the private sector in 1988 when he accepted a career opportunity at the University of Stellenbosch as an Assistant Accountant. In 1999 he became Security Contracts Manager for the former Gray Security Services. He left G4S in October 2006 where he held the position of GM. Reggie joined Thorburn Security Solutions in November 2006. Reggie is married with four children. They enjoy the outdoors and often go caravaning. Gardening and motor-sport are some of his hobbies. Reggie is responsible for the Southern Region, which incorporates the greater Western Cape and part of the Northern Cape.
GARRY BARNES | ACTING MANAGING DIRECTOR (EAST COAST REGION)
Garry Barnes has spent the past 23 years in the Safety and Security Industry, initially as Managing Director of Securicor Gray (G4S) and then Wolf Security – up to the end of 2004. Since then Garry ran ADT’s empowerment guarding company (Kusela) and Special Projects portfolio for The Group. He was one of the 17 Dream-Keepers and contributors to the “Imagine Durban – Safe City” Theme, which was first work-shopped in November 2007.
Garry then went on to run his own Management and Risk Consultancy business, specializing in solutions-based, practical anti-crime initiatives and security applications. In 2011, he held the position of Commercial Manager for NOSA. During his tenure in the Safety and Security Industry, Garry served on two BEE Boards, the SASA National Committee – (South African Security Association) and the Durban Chapter of the Professional Security Council (from 1998). Garry spent many years as an active, serving member on the SASA KZN Committee and served out his term of office as Chairman of SASA. In 2016 he joined Thorburn Security Solutions, where he enjoys his passion of the pursuit of continuous improvement in all facets of the business environment.
ALBIE STOEDER | MANAGING DIRECTOR (TECHNOLOGY)
Born and schooled in Stellenbosch, Albie served in the SANDF in 32 Battalion where after he attended Stellenbosch University. After graduating with a B Econ, he started his own business in the building industry and went on to open 2 hardware stores. By 2008 Albie was involved in industrial property development, which lead to his involvement in the corporate world in terms of consulting and security. Attaining the African rights for Trace-in-metal heat-resistant micro-dot systems with Thorburn, he later joined the Thorburn team in 2016 to assist the Technology Division with the installation of an underground anti-poaching system in the Kruger Park. Albie was promoted to Managing Director of Technology in 2017, and is responsible for sourcing and developing new technology for the company. He is married to Elmarie, they have 2 children and enjoy fishing, paddling & cycling.
